Holistic Retail – Made by Others
Usually we can find a way to summarise a destination we’re reviewing but in this case, we would advise that you read no futher, get in your car, and GO to Moss Vale to visit Anna and Ursula and see Made by Others for yourself. It’s one of those difficult places to describe. There’s an urge to say that there’s something there for everyone but that does the girls a massive injustice as the store is anything but general. There are no pretentious superstars stocking there so it’s a haven for the design-weary. Everything you see there will be fresh and new, with every facet of your lifestyle catered for beautifully. Made by Others stocks clothing for kids and mini-me designs for grownups by the incredible Zoe Georgiou of Fabboo, there’s homewares, living art, jewelry, the new wave of lighting and hanging design. Of course there’s an espresso bar and you can knit, linger or read magazines at the communal table. It’s very rare that we see anything truly new and we’re very excited to see someone out there supporting emerging and established, local and international designers.

She has been toiling away bringing together Australia’s top designers and artists for the first event of its kind, hosted by Shapiro’s in Woolahra. A comprehensive interview appears on the Inside Out blog today. Have a read for the in-depth story behind the show’s inception. Fans of the Pop-Up Co-Op should really make the trip to Sydney! Is your child a budding lifestyle photographer?
Our next issue is our ‘Kids’ issue and we’re trying to get as much kid participation and kid-driven content as possible. For our Interiors section, we are asking kids to take a photo of their own room and the best pics will be published in the mag with a full credit. Is your little one (or medium-sized one) obsessed with your digital camera/lomo/Diana/Holga? Ask them to take a snap, messy or neat, and email it to us here at SoHi. Low res is fine for emailing, but please make sure your camera is set to high res so the image is the best it can be.

The Six Week Boutique and SoHi Magazine
The Six Week Boutique has created a range inspired by our home hood. Here she writes about her new-ish SoHi life ad the promo she is running in conjunction with us:
“SoHi is a cool little nook of the world that I call home. A taste of England in Australia. Freezing in winter, the hills green and lush, it’s where I met Sara, Rebecca, Sarah and Monique. We opened a pop up shop. A place to devour design amongst the knitted tea cosies. I got crafty with big, bold cross stitch letters and Union Jack patchwork in homage to our motherland.
Not everyone gets to live in SoHi, but they can have a wee slice of their very own…
Collection bonus!
The first ten purchases will also receive the first issue of the coveted SoHi Magazine produced by Sarah King and Rebecca Wolkenstein”
Tamara’s work is impeccable – hand made, local, and no slave labour is used unless you count Tammy herself!

Day Trip to Berry – Part two
If decorating the Christmas tree with the usual el cheapo selection of baubles sounds too pedestrian to bear, then include Miss Shelley’s Flowers on Queen Street, Berry on your list of stops. They stock the most divine glass tear drops for your tree. The fillings on display included blossoms, gumnuts, mini pine cones, and hydrangeas. You can also simply display them on a sideboard or even pin them to the ceiling and display them as drops hanging by fishing wire over your Christmas table. If your day in Berry turns to night, we recommend staying at Broughton Mill Farm. It’s the only guesthouse we have ever stayed in that caters to a 100% spontaneous stay, providing toothbrushes, cotton buds, insect repellent – quite literally every item you didn’t think to bring along with you.
